From Your Front Door

Exploring East Hill

Mazzard Farm is situated on East Hill, a huge woodland managed by the Forestry Commission. So your walk starts direct from your front door. We have routes ranging from a casual 30-minute stroll to hikes that take hours. Just talk to us when you get here and we'll talk you through some of what is possible.

So Photogenic

The South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path, also known now as the 'Salt Path' after Raynor Winn's beautiful novel, can be reached at just 15 minutes drive from Mazzard Farm. So many hiking options along our beautiful Jurassic Coast. Some can be reached by public transport allowing you to do a one-way hike without the need of leaving your car at one end!

For the Most Gorgeous Views

To the Coast (and back)

From Mazzard Farm you can walk to the coast at Sidmouth. Depending which route you take it will take anywhere between an hour and a half to around two hours. Have lunch in one of the beautiful pubs or cafes and walk back, or take the bus back to Ottery St Mary.

Varied and With Options to Eat and Drink

A River Walk

From Mazzard Farm there is a lovely 3-hour circular walk down to the village of Tipton St John (pub lunch at the Golden Lion anyone?), then following the River Otter back to Ottery St Mary. Treat yourself to a quick pint in one of the great local pubs then back for your final 30-minute or so walk (up hill!) to Mazzard Farm.

954 Square Kilometers of Stunningness

Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor is hugely varied. Possibly best known for its Tors, as well as the ‘wild’ ponies, sheep and cattle roaming the moors, yet the area offers so much more. You can explore lovely towns and villages, and Dartmoor offers possibly the best pubs in Devon. The National Trust has some great properties in the area, and there are many stone age sights free to visit and enjoy. It is also hugely photogenic! We have a few books and many maps helping you explore this stunning National Park on foot.

Inland or On the Coast

Branscombe

Branscombe is a stunning little village 20 minutes' drive from us. From Branscombe you have various opportunities for hikes, either inland or on the coast. And with two gorgeous pubs and a lovely beach restaurant, no shortage of places to regain some energy. The coastal walk from Branscombe to Beer (on the SWCP) takes about an hour and again, with food and drink available in Beer, makes for a great trip.
