Special Events
There are a number of local events when booking your cottage at Mazzard Farm well in advance is highly recommended. The main ones are:
Women's Health & Wellbeing day: on Friday November 21st, LocalWomenForWomen is organising a day of pampering, awareness and general well-being, to be held at beautiful Escot House. See www.localwomen4women.co.uk/index.php for more information.
Honiton Show: Each year at the start of August. The largest Agricultural show in the South West of England, and one of the largest in the area. See http://www.honitonshow.co.uk/ for details.
Sidmouth Folk Festival: Usually the first week in August. See http://www.sidmouthfolkweek.co.uk/ for details.
Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels (each year on November 6): This is something you must have seen to believe. See http://www.britannia.com/history/devon/otbarrel.html for details.
Ottery St Mary Carnival (Saturday before Tar Barrels): Rio de Janeiro eat your heart out! Fantastic procession of floats. No fewer than 70 in 2007. Great Spectacle.
Exeter Festival: Or more precisely: Exeter Festivals. Over the year, various events take place, including Vibraphonic, Exeter's own music festival, Exeter Summer Festival and Exeter Autumn Festival. See http://www.exeter.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2345 for more details.
Christmas and New Year: As everywhere, these are weeks when cottages get booked up early. So booking these well ahead of time is advisable.
Westpoint / Devon Show Ground: There are almost weekly events at Westpoint, also known as Devon Show Ground (http://www.westpoint-devonshow.co.uk/). Westpoint is 10 minutes away from Mazzard Farm
Escot: just north of Ottery St Mary, Escot House has various large-scale events throughout the year www.escot-devon.co.uk/events.html
